Ryarsh Primary School

The aim of our history curriculum is to ensure that all pupils know and understand history as a coherent, chronological narrative, from the earliest times to the present day. The children will learn how Britain has influenced and been influenced by the wider world by developing a curiosity of  why specific events have happened and to then question and compare these events with other eras.

Children will be equipped with the historical knowledge to understand how events have shaped the past, present and future.

One Page Summary

 Curriculum Progression Document

Our curriculum progression document is based on our overall curriculum intent statement and details the powerful history knowledge and skills that we aim to teach our children, and the sequence in which they are taught.

The knowledge and skills stated are based on key concepts that we aim to teach our children from when they begin school in reception to when they leave school at the end of year 6. These concepts are revisited and 'spiral' over time so that children form a deep understanding within and between various history units.
